You may find it of interest to read that the number of new vans sold in the UK in November 2025 in comparison to the same month last year dropped significantly according to data published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

In November 2025 the number of new vans registered in the up to 3.5 tones categories amounted to 23,570. In November 2024 the figure was 30,300. That is a drop of 22.2%.

The number of new pickups sold in November 2025 totalled 1,964 compared to 3,012 in the same month in 2024 – a drop of 34.8%. The number of new 4 x 4s sold in the UK in November this year amounted to 705 compared to 786 in November 2024 – a fall of 10.3%. The number of new vans in the under 2 tonnes category sold in the UK in November 2025 amounted to 462 compared to 999 in the same month last year – a drop of 53.8%. The number of new vans sold in the 2.0 to 2.5 tonnes category in November 2025 amounted to 3,976 compared to 4,999 in November 2024 – a drop of 20.5%. The number of new vans sold in the UK in the 2.5 to 3.5 tonnes category in November 2025 amounted to 16,463 compared to 20,504 in November 2024 – a fall of 19.75%.

As you can see, all categories of new vans sold in the UK saw a reduction in numbers when comparing November 2025 with the same month last year. However, on a positive note, the number of new battery electric vans sold in the UK rose by 25.3% to 2,909.

On a year to date basis to November 2025, the total number of new vans sold in the UK in the up to 3.5 tonnes categories amounted to 287,728. For the same period to November 2024 the figure was 324,612. This was a reduction of 22.2%.

Who knows, with the number of new vans sold in the UK having fallen, could this mean that prices are going to become more competitive providing couriers with an opportunity to purchase a new van at a more economical price.
