If you are a courier driver then you may find it of interest to read that, apparently, courier riders and drivers for Justeat, Deliveroo and Ubereats are planning to strike every Friday evening between 5pm to 10pm for the forseeable future. They are also considering striking on a Bank Holiday. The reason for the strike being called is that courier riders and drivers want to be paid more for each delivery.

They want to be paid a minimum of £5.00 per order that is more than they are presently paid. Apparently, Deliveroo pay £3.15 per order and Ubereats pays £2.80 per order. That is quite a difference to the £5.00 courier drivers and riders are seeking.

It will be interesting to see what sort of impact such a strike has on the above companies in terms of potential lost business. Of course, such a strike will have a negative impact upon the income earned by courier drivers and riders.

No doubt some customers who normally use the services of such couriers will be disappointed at the proposed action especially on a Friday evening as that particular evening is a popular one for singles, couples and families to order takeaways.

It will be interesting to see if couriers eventually decide to extend the times that they strike. If they do not have success with striking on a Friday evening perhaps they may also decide to strike on a Saturday evening as that is also a very busy day for delivering takeaways here in the UK.

We will endeavor to continue to keep our readers up to date with developments in respect of the above.
