There can sometimes be some bad publicity relating to delivery drivers such as when it comes to where parcels are left at a customer’s home if nobody is in or sometimes courier drivers are said to be rude to people he or she delivers a parcel to. So, it is great to be able to tell you about something good about delivery drivers.

Apparently, back on the 5th March 2025, two gentlemen were going about their day’s work in their delivery van delivering things to customers in Warwickshire when they came upon a serious incident involving a car.

The car in question was upside down in a lake near Bramcote, Warwickshire. It was starting to sink. The gentlemen rushed to help and between them they were able to get a mother and two children out of the vehicle and safely onto the bank of the lake prior to emergency service vehicles arriving on the scene.

The two gentlemen in question are Neil Gill and Stephen Earlston. Both have been awarded a commendation by the Chief Constable of Warwickshire.

It would appear they were able to prevent a potential tragedy that may have resulted in the death of one or more of the occupants of the overturned car.

There are probably other incidents that go unreported of courier drivers coming to the aid of people such as when on the road a delivery driver may have come across a road traffic accident and got out of his or her van to offer support. Some courier drivers may have called at someone’s home to deliver a parcel only to discover that the elderly occupant has been taken ill and an ambulance has been called. Some courier drivers may have pulled over to help someone who is struggling to change a tyre or has a mechanical problem with his or her vehicle.

So, as you can see, news relating to courier and delivery drivers isn’t always worrying. Well done to both the above gentlemen.
