Couriers may be interested to read that, according to the Pitney Bowes Parcel Shipping Index published in 2019 covering 13 major markets around the world, that in 2018 the number of parcels shipped in the UK amounted to 3.5 billion with this being an increase over a 12 month period of 12.4%. Royal Mail. Hermes. Amazon Logistics, DHL and UPS making up in the region of 75% of such shipments are the top 5 courier businesses here in the UK. It does not come as a surprise to read that Royal Mail are at the top of the list shipping significantly more parcels than any of the other companies.

In China, 51 billion parcels were shipped in 2018 with this being an increase of 26% over a 12 month period.

In the United States of America, 13 billion parcels were shipped in 2018 with this being an increase of 7.4% over a period of one year.

In India, 2.5 billion parcels were shipped in 2018 with this being an increase of 21% when compared with the previous 12 months.

In Australia, there were 864 million parcels shipped in 2018 with this being an increase of 10.6% over a 12 month period.
