The most expensive region in the UK is Inner London with motorists being charged an average of £804 per annum. That is a drop of £164 per annum when compared with a year ago. That equates to a fall of 17%.

The cheapest region in the UK is Scotland – Borders with motorists paying an average of 3327 per annum. That is a fall of £58 per annum. That equates to a fall of 15%.

Another factor that impacts upon how much an insurance company will charge you for car insurance is your age. An 18 year old pays the most with the average premium being £1,379 per annum. A 30 year old is paying an average of £689 per annum. A 70 year old is paying the least – an average of £301 per annum.

The average amount paid by a man is £549 per annum whilst the average amount paid by a woman is £456 per annum.
